Victoria’s full 2020-21 skilled visa nomination program (subclasses 190 and 491) will re-open at 10am AEDT on Tuesday, 5 January 2021.

The Commonwealth Department of Home Affairs has allocated the Victorian Government further visa nomination places.

In addition to the places provided as part of the interim program.

Victoria’s total number of places for the Skilled visa program for the 2020-21 program year is outlined in the table:

What should I do next for  VIC visa 491/190 application ?

Registrations of interest for Victorian visa nomination is the first step 

You must register your interests on Live in Melbourne and be selected to apply for Victorian visa nomination.

If you have already submitted a Registration of Interest (ROI) during the interim program, you do not need to submit another ROI. Your existing ROI will still be considered.

What is VIC visa 491/190 submission windows ?

Each submission windows sets timeframes in which you can submit your ROIS.

Once a submission window closes, you will need to wait for the next submission window to submit your ROI.

If you are not selected immediately after your submission window, you will still be considered for future selection.

    You must have lived and worked in regional Victoria for at least the past 3 months.

    A positive Skills Assessment

  • Finances

    There are no financial requirements

How do I get a 491 and 190 visa in Victoria?

Victoria 491 visa criteria

  1. You must first register your interest for Victorian State Nomination Registration of Interest (ROI)
  2. You must be living in Victoria 3 months for 491, 6 months for 190.
  3. You must already be working in Victoria
  4. You must be working in health or medical research or supports Victoria’s economic recovery.
  5. International student graduates and PHD, meet criteria also encouraged to apply.

What is Employment and occupation for visa 491

You must be currently employed in regional Victoria in a highly skilled occupation

  • in the health,
  • medical research,
  • life sciences,
  • agri-food or digital sectors, and

In addition:

  • your role must either have been supporting Victoria’s economic recovery and/or health response for at least the past 3 months.
  • International student graduates and PhD applicants who meet the eligibility criteria are also encouraged to apply.
  • Applicants with a track record of commercialising innovative ideas and bringing them to market will also be highly regarded.

You will need to provide evidence of this work experience by providing:

  • a signed copy of your current employment contract
  • the past 3 months payslips
  • evidence of superannuation contributions from your employer for the past 3 months
  • your current position description
  • your current employer’s details (including telephone number).

Please note, the business where you are working must be:

    • active and operating in regional Victoria for at least two years
    • located in a designated regional area of Victoria.

You must be currently employed in Victoria.

Working in a highly skilled occupation in health or medical research which supports Victoria’s economic recovery or health response for at least the past 6 months.

  • Applicants with a track record of commercialising innovative ideas and bringing them to market will also be highly regarded.
  • International student graduates and PhD applicants who meet the criteria are also encouraged to apply.
