What’s the requirement for skills assessment
This occupation requires
A qualification assessed as comparable to the educational level of an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Diploma or higher, in a field highly relevant to the nominated occupation.
If the qualification is in a field highly relevant to the occupation, then at least one year of highly relevant post-qualification employment at an appropriate skill level is required, completed in the last five years.
If the qualification is not in a highly relevant field, two years of highly relevant employment at an appropriate skill level is required, completed in the last five years; this is reduced to one year if there is an additional qualification at AQF Certificate IV level in a highly relevant field.
If employment is pre-qualification, then three additional years of highly relevant employment are required. This is in addition to one year of highly relevant employment within the past five years.
A positive assessment of both qualifications and employment is required for a positive Skills Assessment Outcome.
What’s the requirement for Qualification
AQF Diploma or higher
A highly relevant field of study is Hospitality Management.
Hospitality is the study of providing reception, accommodation, entertainment, food, beverages and related services to patrons at hotels, motels, clubs, restaurants, caravan parks, etc.
Subjects may include:
- Hospitality Management
- Hotel Management
- Business Accounting
- HR Management
- Business Management
Qualifications in general management studies (such as an MBA) and tourism without
hospitality management subjects cannot be considered.
What’s the requirement for Employment
This occupation covers accommodation and hospitality managers not elsewhere covered in ANZSCO. As this is a managerial role, applicants need to demonstrate oversight, control and organisation of an establishment which provides accommodation and hospitality services.
Highly relevant tasks include
but are not limited to:
- plans and supervises activities in areas such as guest accommodation, meals and other services
- assesses and reviews customer satisfaction and preferences
- may provide guests with local tourism information, arrange tours and transportation, or provide other tourism-related services
- may plan and supervise activities in areas such as accounting, purchasing, gardening, functions and conferences, gaming, entertainment, housekeeping, property maintenance and security
